Barrier-fluid support system for dual mechanical seals that stores barrier pressure in a nitrogen-precharged bladder accumulator instead of drawing continuously from an external nitrogen line.
Plan 53B holds barrier fluid above seal-chamber pressure using a nitrogen-precharged bladder accumulator. The package integrates accumulator, pumping ring, cooler and pressure, level and temperature instrumentation with alarms, and is engineered per project for pressure, volume and cooling area in SS304, SS316L or a project-specific alloy.

53B differs from 53A in the pressurization element: 53B relies on a nitrogen-precharged bladder accumulator, while 53A uses external nitrogen. Choose 53B where barrier pressure should be stored locally in the accumulator. Accumulator pressure, volume and cooler area are specified per project, and the alloy grade is selected from SS304, SS316L or a project-specific option.
Wetted parts are made in SS304, SS316L or a project-specific alloy. The structure centres on a nitrogen-precharged bladder accumulator, supported by a pumping ring for barrier-fluid circulation, a cooler for heat removal, and pressure, level and temperature instruments with alarms, all integrated into one seal-support package.
Intended for dual mechanical seal installations running toxic, flammable, corrosive, abrasive, polymerizing or high-vapor-pressure liquids. Relevant duty areas include chemical processing, MVR evaporation and crystallization, pharmaceutical and fine chemical operations, electroplating and surface-treatment lines, and industrial wastewater or chemical sump service where medium containment drives the seal-support decision.
Accumulator pressure, reservoir volume and cooling area are quoted per project. Material grade, instrument set and alarm configuration can be aligned with site requirements. Provide medium, concentration, temperature, seal-chamber pressure and preferred barrier pressure for a sized configuration.
A 2025 supply contract with an environmental technology company covered a 22-pump process package for MVR evaporation, high-altitude process transfer, circulation, slurry discharge and utility service. The mixed-model package used TA2, 316L and polymer materials and documented an FJX-900 duty of Q=7,800 m³/h, H=3 m. Contract deliverables included technical acceptance, manuals/certificates and project-specific warranty obligations; operating KPI results were not disclosed.
1. What is the main difference between Plan 53B and Plan 53A?
Plan 53B uses a nitrogen-precharged bladder accumulator to hold barrier pressure; Plan 53A uses an external nitrogen source.
2. Is barrier pressure above seal-chamber pressure?
Yes. Barrier pressure is maintained above seal-chamber pressure in both configurations.
3. What materials are used?
SS304, SS316L or a project-specific alloy.
4. What components come with the system?
A bladder accumulator, pumping ring, cooler, and pressure, level and temperature instruments with alarms.
5. Can the accumulator volume be specified for my project?
Yes. Pressure, volume and cooling area are project-specific.
6. Does it support zero-atmospheric-leakage designs?
The system supports zero-atmospheric-leakage system design for dual mechanical seals.
7. What liquids is it suitable for?
Toxic, flammable, corrosive, abrasive, polymerizing and high-vapor-pressure process liquids.
