2. Closed-End Design and Interface Standards
Type DP: Solid-ended male dust plug with cylindrical camlock nose, annular engagement groove and machined sealing-contact face. Its closed back covers the opening of a disconnected female coupler.
Cam-and-Groove References: A-A-59326 (formerly MIL-C-27487) and applicable EN 14420-7 / DIN 2828 mating interfaces.
No through-flow bore, BSP/NPT pipe thread, hose shank, cam arms or captive gasket is incorporated.
3. Brass Body Materials and Manufacturing
Body: Industrial copper-zinc brass alloy, with specified grades such as CW617N or C37700 where suitable for the design.
Manufacturing: Brass casting, forging or precision CNC machining of the plug body, male nose, locking groove and contact surfaces.
Brass selection considers moisture, chemical exposure, water quality, ammonia and dezincification risk. Alloy verification and material certificates support specified orders.
4. Female Coupler Compatibility
Compatible Female Couplers: Type B (male thread), Type C (hose shank) and Type D (female thread), with corresponding camlock sizes and interface profiles.
The DP nose enters the female socket, and the coupler's cam arms engage the plug groove. Nose diameter, insertion depth, groove position and gasket-contact geometry govern mating fit.
Type DC female dust caps protect male Type A, E and F adapters.
5. Annular Groove Engagement and Retention
The mating female coupler provides two pivoting cam levers. Closing the arms engages the DP annular groove and draws the plug face against the coupler's internal gasket.
Controlled groove width/depth, cam contact surfaces, nose OD and insertion length support repeatable tool-free installation and removal. Optional pull rings or retaining chains assist handling and loss prevention.
6. Gasket Contact and Protective Closure
Mating Gasket Options: NBR (Buna-N), EPDM, FKM and silicone, selected for compatible residues and storage conditions.
The gasket is retained inside the female coupler; Type DP itself carries no main sealing gasket. A smooth plug contact face and correct cam engagement help cover the socket opening.
The plug is intended for protective closure of isolated, depressurized connections, not as a flow-through fitting.
